Hi, I’m Laurel.
I’m a wife, mom of a young adult, and stepmom to two wonderful (and sometimes complicated!) younger children. I live in Michigan, where the winters are long, the gardens are hopeful, and there’s always another blanket on my crochet hook.
In the past two years, my life has shifted dramatically — and in the middle of it all, God has quietly reignited a dream in my heart.
I long for a home centered on faith, nourishment, and intention. I work full-time, yet I still feel deeply called to build a life that includes scratch cooking, homemade bread rising on the counter, gardening, canning, and slowly moving toward self-sufficiency — raising a family fit for His service.
I’m learning what it means to serve my husband biblically while blending a family and navigating co-parenting with wisdom and grace. Some days are beautiful. Some days are humbling. Most days are both.
Crocheting has become a quiet reminder to me of how this life works. I love making blankets — they take time, patience, and more than a few do-overs. But when they’re finished, the warmth and joy they bring make every stitch worth it. Building a home feels much the same way.
This space is where I share the real process — not perfection, but progress. The systems that help, the recipes that save time, the lessons I’m learning about marriage, parenting an adult child, and stepmotherhood, and the practical steps toward building a homestead life in the middle of modern busyness.
If you’re trying to build a faithful, intentional home in less-than-ideal circumstances, you’re not alone. It will look different for each of us because God places different dreams on every heart according to His purpose. But we can share the journey, support one another, and pray for each other along the way.
If you’re new to your faith journey, you are especially welcome here. I am far from perfect — but God is faithful. My hope is that by sharing my story, you’ll feel encouraged in yours.
Join me in building a faithful home.
